WHAT’S AT STAKE

“When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:3 NIV

We have never seen a time like this in the good old U.S of A. Everyday there seems to be a new headline that drops jaws. 45 is a president like no one could imagine. He bucks all norms. He has defied Congress, criticized judges, tweeted derogatory expressions, told over 20,000 untruths, minimized science, used his business venues for government purposes, disparaged war veterans, embraced white supremacist, appointed some 200 “conservative” judges, stoked racial unrest, applauded dictators, spoke highly of conspiracy theorist and vigilantism, welcomes help from Russia, attempted to sabotage the national election…

The foundations of our democracy are being destroyed. The “checks and balances” that was part of our governmental framework is all but gone. What 45 said about shooting someone on 5th Avenue and getting away with is seems true. One top of that, 45 has dismissed the inspector generals (IGs) of five cabinet departments. He denies that there is any racism or systematic racism. This is all in his pursuit of “Making America Great Again.” Of course, the question is great for who?

Much is at stake under his leadership! Much is at stake in the coming elections! Much is at stake with the silence of him and his party of Civil Rights, Healthcare, Environmental Protection, Criminal Justice Reform, Racial Harmony, Fair Wages, and Economic Equality. It is all at stake!

What can the righteous do? 1) Remember God is sovereign. 2) Do not lose hope. 3) Trust God! 4) Keep praying and do what is right. 5) Look for God to bring justice.

Prayer: God, help us to realize what is at stake in our nation. Move us from complacency and cynicism. Move us toward a positive activism as citizens of the United States. We look to You for our help comes from You. Amen.
