Strike the Face of Racism
1 Samuel 17:49
And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. 1 Samuel 17:49
In front of David stood a Goliath! This Philistine was undefeated in battle. His presence invoked fear in the hearts and minds of all that wanted to both defeat him and also stood beside him. His powerful record spoke for all those he represented and caused those he fought to remain quiet while they were conditioned to listen to his hatred and insults.
While others were conditioned to ignore Goliath and keep the peace, David’s ears burned at the insults not only towards his fellow brethren but towards his God. David couldn’t stand to listen to his rhetoric and decided to take a stance.
Like David, we must face today’s Goliath. With a simple stone, we can bring down a mighty foe. David stood in faith and with action, spoke up for right. His righteous actions allowed both Philistines and Israelites to be released from the fear of Goliath. This ultimately led to a fair fight that resulted in righteousness prevailing.
Lord, help us to stand in your power with your authority against your enemies. Let us bring glory to your name by aiming for the things that stand against your will upon this earth. Please help us to walk in confidence towards challenges and not sit uncomfortably in comfort while unrighteousness prevails.
