“Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.” Psalm 37:1

“what goes around comes around”

The above idiom is used to express the belief that if someone treats others badly, he or she will eventually be treated badly by someone else. One could also say that it means you will reap what you sow.

Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the last two decades have brought about an onslaught of vote suppression measures and tactics. They range from voter ID laws to cuts to early voting, to mass purges of voter rolls. It even takes place through the redrawing of district lines to minimize the effect of black and brown voting.

Republicans have determined that they really do not like a democracy that allows masses of people to have a voice in who gets elected and the legislation of laws that govern their daily lives. All the voter suppression measures have taken place in Republican-led states. In Texas, our governor is a suppressive act ordered that there be only one ballot dropbox per county. Harris County had planned for twelve for its population of nearly 4 million people. This was done to suppress the vote.

He will discover along with his Republican cohorts that payback is coming! God observes all evil even political evil. He sees the effort to limit the votes or minority citizens, poor citizens, elderly citizens, and those with disabilities. He sees the suppression that is taking place in this Covid-19 season with the threat this pandemic poses.

Right will eventually win. The evildoers will be cut down like the grass and wither as the green herb!

Prayer: Lord God, let us not fret in the face of evil and evildoers. We will confess this verse as we witness all the voter suppression that takes place in an American that claims to have liberty and justice for all.
